A spectacular pyrite in quartz gemstone!
This amazing gem was selected from a wonderful vendor, 93 year old Max Davis in California, for it's unique pyrite inclusions in quartz. My favorite thing about this gem is when viewed from the side, the pyrite crystals line up on a singular plane, like an asteroid belt frozen in time! This large gem is 35.52 carats, and measures 36mm long and 19mm wide.
Quartz is one of the most prolific of gems on earth, and often has inclusions within the gem. We know of quartz as Amethyst (when purple), Citrine (yellow/orange), and Prasiolite (light green). This gem has individual pyrite crystals that were trapped in the gem during formation, and then was cut and polished to show off the true one-of-a-kind nature of the gem!
