Courtney's Upcycled Heirloom

Like a phoenix from the ashes!
From a pile of miscellaneous rings, some from family and some that has lost its original allure, comes a new stupendously sparkly ring!
Courtney brought in a group of rings and a necklace with a hope to utilize the diamonds all in one new wedding ring. She loved a band look and also really wanted to incorporate the gold from her original wedding ring into the band in some way.
Because the rings are all different alloys, it's not a great idea to use them directly into the casting... but I took her original wedding ring and made wire from it that I then placed down the center of the band, giving it a stacking ring like look.
We had oval and round diamonds of many sizes, so the challenge was how to make them all work well together, so I played with lots of layout options and found a design that incorporated all but one tiny diamond!
Courtney and her husband Rob came in and melted the gold for the ring, and it was so fun for them to see the ring come to life! Then polishing and setting diamonds, and adding the original wedding band back in and the results are amazing!
We added some texture as well to the middle band to really help it stand out amongst the very sparkly diamonds, I love using texture to draw attention to certain areas of a piece!
